Programs for Women in Mathematics

• Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education (EDGE)
  The EDGE Program was launched in 1998 by Bryn Mawr and Spelman Colleges, with the goal of strengthening the ability of women students to successfully complete graduate programs in the mathematical sciences, with particular inclusion of women from under-represented groups.
  
  
• Women and Mathematics Program at the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study
  Since 1994 with the support of the National Science Foundation, the Institute, together with Princeton University, has hosted an intensive 11-day mentoring program for undergraduate and graduate women in mathematics. The program brings together research mathematicians with undergraduate and graduate students on the campus of the Institute for Advanced Study and is designed to address issues of gender imbalance in mathematics. The program includes lectures and seminars on a focused mathematical topic, mentoring, discussions on peer relations, an introduction to career opportunities and a women in sciences seminar. • The Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics
  This program is open to outstanding undergraduate women mathematicians at all stages of their careers. Students will have the opportunity to meet other women who share their interest in the mathematical sciences, and those who have already done research will be given an opportunity to present their results. Conference participants will also have a chance to learn about life in graduate school from the perspective of current women graduate students representing math departments from across the country.
  
  
• The Carleton College Summer Mathematics Program for Women
  The Carleton College Summer Mathematics Program for Women is an NSF-funded program to encourage and support women in their study of mathematics. The goals of the program include: (1) Introducing students to new areas of mathematics; (2) Honing students' mathematical reasoning, proof writing, problem solving, and presentation skills; (3) Building self-confidence, encouraging enthusiasm for mathematics, and increasing awareness of opportunities for continued study in the mathematical sciences; (4) Connecting students into a supportive network of other female college math majors, graduates and professionals to support them through their graduate studies in mathematics.
  
  
• The George Washington University Summer Program for Women in Mathematics
  This program is a 5-week intensive program for mathematically-talented undergraduate women who are completing their junior year and may be contemplating graduate study in the mathematical sciences.

Programs for Minorities and Under-Represented Groups in Mathematics

• The MSRI Undergraduate Program (MSRI-UP) in Berkeley, California
  MSRI-UP is a comprehensive summer program designed for undergraduate students who have completed two years of university-level mathematics courses and would like to conduct research in the mathematical sciences. This objective is designed to contribute significantly toward meeting the program goal of increasing the number of graduate degrees in the mathematical sciences, especially doctorates, earned by U.S. citizens and permanent residents by cultivating heretofore untapped mathematical talent within the U.S. Black, Hispanic/Latino and Native American communities.
  
  
• Summer Undergraduate Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (SUMSRI) at Miami University in Ohio
  SUMSRI is a program hosted by the Department of Mathematics at Miami University. They seek talented undergraduate students in the mathematical sciences who are interested in pursuing advanced degrees. They are especially interested in, but not limited to, under-represented minorities and women.
